Here at Child’s Play childcare education centre, we feel that the new ‘free’ preschool year is a great development for the Early Learning Sector in Ireland. We feel that it gives all children the opportunity to experience a preschool education setting. The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme was set up by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs (OMCYA). It is available to children the year before they are due to go to school for 3 hours per day.

To be eligible for the ECCE scheme children need to 3 years and 2 months on the 1st September of the year that they wish to start.

We have qualified to operate the ECCE scheme in Child’s Play. We achieved 100% compliance in our ECCE inspection. Our next pre school classes will be run from September 2012. We were also chosen to participate in the first ever Siolta Training that is currently taking place country wide.
