Child’s Play presents at The Global Gathering for Early Childhood

Georga, the owner of Child’s Play, presented the findings of her Masters Thesis in Education at The Global Gathering for Early Childhood and we thought that you would like to see it.

The aim of this research is to critically analyse how children’s rights are negotiated within an Early Years setting by exploring practitioner’s and children’s perceptions and enactments of children’s rights.  Children’s rights are a wonderful lens to explore the landscape of children’s experiences in Early Years Education.

This research is a qualitative insider research study utilising ethnographic case study methods through semi-structured interviews, observation, child conferencing, focus group and informal ‘chats’.  This research design was influenced by constructivist theorists, both cognitive and social, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and research papers and discourses relating to children’s rights, choices and participation within the Early Years classroom setting.
